Bozal Mezcal

Bozal is a collection of small-batch mezcals sourced from family distillers in the remote hills of Oaxaca and Guerrero. We created a series of colored ceramic bottles each of which represents a different product group: single-magueys, pechugas, ensambles and limited-edition mezcals. The custom-shaped bottles are hand-glazed in Mexico City and give a modern twist on an ancient drinking vessel. Brand strategy from our good friends at Fred & Co. We are thrilled Bozal received a Pentawards Gold Award.

Typography and pen-and-ink illustration make up the main Bozal brand assets. The wolf is a reference to the brand name which roughly translates as untamed or wild. Other elements of the packaging—the exposed cork, kraft shipping cartons and strip seal labels—round out the system.
