We were tapped to design the 49th release of the much-loved Christmas Ale from Anchor Brewing, America’s first craft brewery. The special recipe changes slightly every year — as does the tree illustration on the label. This year’s pack gives a nod to the past with the original tree drawing from the first 1975 label. Sadly, Anchor shuttered its doors just weeks before the release. We wish the new owners great success in reviving this local favorite in the future.

A mix of classic and decorative serif fonts, a woodcut illustration by and English storybook artist and a traditional palette of reds and greens give this year’s packaging a quintessentially Christmas feel.
